Dr. Kristina Zakhary is specialty trained in Blepharoplasty Surgery and uses her artistic skill to remove excess fat and skin from around the eyelids to give you a more refreshed look and restore your youthful appearance.
Blepharoplasty Surgery is the most common cosmetic eyelid surgery, and is commonly referred to as an Eyelid tuck or Eyelid Lift. It is a cosmetic facial plastic surgery which is designed to remove excess fat and skin from around the eyelids to give you a more refreshed look. To achieve the best results, upper eyelid lift (Blepharoplasty) can be combined with Forehead lift or Brow lift surgery.
Blepharoplasty is used to improve the effects of aging around the eyelids, such as the drooping and sagging of upper eyelid skin, or the excess fat that create bags in the lower eyelid area. Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Lift surgery can also be used in younger patients, as hooded upper eyelid skin or excess fat around the eyes are not exclusively attributed to aging.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) corrects the hooding, bulges and wrinkles around your eyes, resulting in a more rested and youthful appearance. It may also relieve your eyes from the extra weight of excess skin, muscle or fat, leading to a youthful appearance, and less eye fatigue.
Dr Zakhary performs eyelid surgery under local anesthesia or sedation anesthesia, in a fully accredited surgical facility in Calgary, Alberta.
Immediately following your blepharoplasty surgery, you may experience some itching, dry eyes, eye tearing, drooping eyelids, swelling or bleeding. Dr. Zakhary will prescribe medications to help keep you very comfortable and safe during your recovery.
Do not be alarmed if you develop tiny pimples along the scar line. These tiny pimples are called Milia and they usually disappear a few days after surgery. Blepharoplasty or Eyelid lift surgery is carried out on the eyelid, and not on the eye itself. This is why visual impairment is only a very remote and rare possibility.
Dr. Zakhary also offers other non surgical facial cosmetic procedure options in Calgary to rejuvenate your eyelids, such as wrinkles reduction injections or Fillers (like Restylane and Perlane).
An alternative or complementary surgical procedure, which also corrects droopy eyelids is the Brow Lift procedure. Low eyebrows can worsen the appearance of hooded upper eyelids and deepen the wrinkles in your forehead area. Low brows and a wrinkled forehead are often corrected together with eyelid blepharoplasty surgery or a facelift operation.
