Dr Zakhary's Clinic in Calgary Canada is thrilled to offer you beautiful skin with the Fraxel Re:Store Laser. The Dr. Zakhary uses the Fraxel® Laser to greatly improve your face's skin texture, reduce pore size, improve acne scars, lighten unwanted age spots, brown spots and skin discolourations, and also rejuvenates the skin of the neck.
Facial Plastic Surgeons, General Plastic Surgeons and Cosmetic Dermatologists in Calgary are using Fraxel Laser treatments to smooth fine wrinkles and lines on the face, in addition to improving skin pigmentation disorders, by reducing age spots, sun spots and melasma (pregnancy mask). This cosmetic procedure is also excellent for improving your face skin texture, reducing pore size, and improving the appearance of facial acne and acne scars.
The advantage of using Fraxel Laser with Dr. Zakhary is that this laser technology is ideal for many skin types, including Asian skin and darker skin types, with fewer risks of other conventional laser technologies. Additionally, Dr. Zakhary is an Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Facial Cosmetic Surgeon, Board Certified with the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and she is experienced in treating many skin type patients with the Fraxel Laser.
Fraxel® laser technology is a tried and true approach to treating aging and sun damaged skin. It can offer more dramatic results for your skin when compared to conventional non ablative laser treatments. The results of the Fraxel Re:Store laser can also be dramatic without the side effects of traditional ablative laser treatments which can include hyperpigmentation (darker skin), hypopigmentation (lighter skin) or facial scarring. The reason that Fraxel Laser carries less risks than ablative lasers, is that Fraxel uses pixel technology, where the laser treats only a fraction of the skin at one time by producing of micorscopic heated columns in your skin, which penetrate deep into the layers of the skin, and leaves microscopic columns of normal skin in between the treated areas. This allows for less down time and quicker recovery since the normal columns of skin will help to heal the treated pixels of skin. This is called "fractional" treatment.
Fraxel laser is done in a series of less intense treatments, and so the risks of each treatment is less, and so is the recovery time.
Dr. Zakhary will first pre treat your skin with medical skin care creams in order to prepare your face for better results with the Fraxel laser. The Fraxel laser treatment is done with Topical anesthesia (cream) or local anesthesia injections as needed. During the procedure, a device will cool your face for maximum comfort. The laser procedure usually takes around two hours. Right after your procedure, your face may be puffy and red for a day or so, and then pink for up to 3 days. You will usually be socially presentable 3 to 4 days after your treatment. You may apply make-up to your face immediately after your Fraxel laser treatment, and men can continue to shave as usual.
Typically you will need between 4 to 6 Fraxel laser treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, for best results. For Acne scar improvement you may need more treatments for optimal results. You will start to see your skin improvements around 1 to 3 months after your first laser treatment. Dr. Zakhary recommends that you have a maintenance treatment every year to maintain your nice skin improvements.
