Prepare for the Outdoors

Ready to venture outside? Well, if you are, do what you can to cover exposed skin. Purchase a hat with a wide brim to block out the sun rays. Most of importantly, wear sunscreen. Even if it doesn’t look like summer time outside, you can still experience sun damage when the sun isn’t out yet. Make sure you choose sunscreen with an SPF of at least SPF 15. Wear at least an SPF 30 during hot weather and keep an on the UV index – the higher the index, the more likely you will get burned. Apply sunscreen underneath your makeup and keep reapplying your sunscreen.

Different Skin Type = Different Care

What is your skin type? Oily or dry? Maybe a combination? Your skin care method will change according to your skin type. If you have oily skin, select gentle cleansers that won’t dry out your skin and wash your face twice a day, at most. Also – stop touching your face. When you touch your face, your transferring oil that’s on your hands onto your face.

If you have dry skin, or combination skin, one important tip - avoid hot showers. Although they may feel wonderful, it’s also very drying. Take cool showers instead. Also, when washing your face, use a fragrance free soap. When you follow up with a moisturizer, leave your skin slightly damp so your skin can absorb the moisture.

Exfoliate

Whether or not you are dealing with dry skin, exfoliating is an excellent beauty practice for all skin types. The major benefit of exfoliating regularly is that your skin is much more likely to absorb moisture. Use a gentle scrub around twice a week to get your skin feeling smooth. You can also use a body brush to take care of dry skin over your entire body.

You Are What You Eat

What you eat can actually have a positive impact on your skin! The right foods work from the inside out. So, make sure to eat your fruits and veggies. Packed with a ton of necessary vitamins, having a green salad and colorful fruit bowl during the day will do wonders for your skin. Love melons? Melons have been known to make your skin radiant due to its hydrating qualities. So slice up the melons for that outdoor picnic or pack some in your lunch during the week. Most of all, drink water. Water moisturizes your skin from the inside out. So, sip water every 30 minutes and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated.

Lastly, if you are seeking some long term, more permanent solutions to your beauty concerns, consider speaking to a facial cosmetic surgeon who can assist you with looking your best self. Facial cosmetic surgery can fix a host of minor (or even major) issues. So if you don’t feel summer ready no matter what skin care technique you use, consult with facial cosmetic surgeon to explore your options.
